Sutirtha Chatterjee is an independent photographer with over 10 years of experience in journalistic, and documentary photography, working across South and Southeast Asia. He is currently pursuing an MA in Photography from the London College of Communication, University of Arts London.

6X6 Talent, World Press Photo Foundation (2020)
Selected among the 6 photographers from Asia, this program spotlights visual storytellers from 6 global regions, highlighting talent from around the world and presenting stories with diverse perspectives.

Finalist, Invisible Photographer Asia, Young Portfolio Awards (2018)
My work titled “The Sixth Sense” was shown as a part of a group exhibition at Beijing Photo Festival, Kathmandu International Photo Festival and at Objectifs- Centre for Photography and Film, Singapore.


Winner, The TOTO Tasveer Awards for Photography (2017)
My photo series titled “The Sixth Sense” which explored issues of blindness in India, was awarded the Toto Award for Photography in Bangalore.


PUBLICATIONS

Dream Sequence, Caravan Magazine (2019)
I worked on a photographic project with Brihaspati Mahato, a student living with blindness. I was interviewed about our photographic work, featured in the July 2019 issue.

Calcutta Then Kolkata Now, Roli Books (2018)
Contributed 8 photographs to the 75th anniversary publication of The Roli Books, edited by Anshika Verma and Indrajit Hazra. My picture was chosen as the cover of Kolkata Now. 

Ueberall Photography (2017)
Ueberall is a publication based in Berlin, that gathers alternative city portraits as seen by local photographers through workshops and other projects. My work titled “The Sixth Sense” was printed in its first edition, edited by Yana Wernicke and Jonas Feige and designed by Bessie Normand.



EXHIBITIONS

15th Angkor Photo Festival and Workshops, Siem Reap, Cambodia (2019)
Following the 7 days workshop, I produced a series of images made while walking along the banks of a river in Siem Reap. The work was later exhibited in a digital projection on the closing night of the festival.

Objectifs- Centre for Photography & Film, Singapore (2018)

WORKSHOPS

APAC, Sciencetelling Virtual Spotlight (2023)
Nominated to join the National Geographic Society’s APAC Sciencetelling Virtual Spotlight 2023, learning how to pitch my work to a diverse audience through a series of public speaking and video making workshops. This workshop culminated in a virtual presentation in April 2023, where my work was showcased to an audience of OTT content producers, journalists, and other explorers.

15th Angkor Photo Festival and Workshops, Siem Reap, Cambodia (2019)
Selected among 30 South-East Asian photographers for a seven-day workshop led by Katrin Koenning and Sadia Marium in Siem Reap, where we explored the nuances of building a narrative based work, from conception to dissemination.
